No Sound with Mandriva 11 for AsusZ35F

Can anyone tell me why sound is so hard to configure on this laptop? With Ubuntu 7.04-7.10 I was able to tweak it. (Forget it in 8.04-8.10). So I thought I'd try Mandriva. No luck. Next distro is going to have to be Microsoft.

Have you tried the new 2.6.28 kernel?

It has lots of new features.

I've tried the latest Suse, Mandriva, Ubuntu, Mint, Sabayon. I guess this laptop was forgotten when the updated the latest kernel? Oh well.. Back to Microsuck!
