No sound on fedora core 5

Hi again,

Ok, now here is the latest problem with FC5.

I installed FC5 and the sound worked great (kernel 2.6.15-1)

So i needed to install VMWare on FC5 and in the process one of the solutions in a forum advised to upgrade the kernel.

I did that and, I lost sound on kernel 2.6.17-1

I cannot seem to figure out why.

I ran sound card detection program - to no avail.

Please help....

Yummy.

I was installing VMWare following a guide. and it advised to run YUM INSTALL KERNEL.

This installed the newer version with the problem.

Sorted now.

I went back to the 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 kernel and found that the install DVD had the SMP kernel-devel file on it.
Also found that VMWare needed a program called hardlink. Found that on the install disk.

All sorted. install via RPM and all was ok after that.

just waiting on my new WLAN card and ill be up and running.

Cheers once again guys.
