No pc-card slots found

I have just reinstalled slackware and recompiled kernel 2.6.11.5, this time I can't find any sockets.

Code:
$ cardmgr
cardmgr[4354]: no sockets found!
Last time I got repsonse "found 2 sockets!" but no there is no socket found at all. I looked at the kernel config but could not find much more to add to it. Does anyone know what I need to compile into the kernel to get this to work or if the problem might be something else?

Of course, isn't it pcmcia-cs that contains the command "cardmgr"? Anyway, trying to install it just told me that it would not install any drivers and I also got some errors.
