[SOLVED] No image on screen after closing and opening my laptop's lid on Debian Squeeze

I've just installed Debian Squeeze on my Dell Inspiron laptop and when I close the laptop's lid and open it again there is no image on screen (as if it were turned off or suspended) but it is still on, and no matter what key I press it doesn't change.

I used to have Ubuntu 12.04 in this same laptop and never came across this problem.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.

As always with Debian Stable for better hardware support, try using a more recent, backported kernel, to see if it improves things.
