no audio on Headphones

I have the following configuration

Asus Z71V running in FC3

I updated the alsa rpm package to get audio. But I get nothing from the headphone jack. I checked the mixer and nothing is muted (alsamixer and the gnome volume). Not sure where the problem is or how to go about solving this.

Thanks,

DH

Start with a couple of silly questions - can you get audio through the internal speaker in your laptop, if it has one? Is there a separate volume control on your headphones? Is the volume turned up within the application you're actually trying to play audio with?

Otherwise, what sound card do you have exactly and was it detected + configured correctly during install?

Yes, audio does work through the internal speakers. But only after updating alsa to the newest rpm did it actually work. The soundcard detection utility in FC3 still says that it cannot detect a sound card but with the newer alsa I have audio.

I don't have a seperate control for the headphones and it is turned up all the way.

It is using the hda-intel driver. These changes are now in the ALSA driver (as of 1.0.9rc4a)

Built-in Azalea compliant audio chip, and this uses a Realtek driver in windows

Hello!

I have a similar problem but not with headphones but with speakers (Imagine its the same thing). They are connected through a jack but do nothing. My internal speakers work fine.

Donīt even know where to start...newbie. Any suggestion?

Thanks

I am going to check and see if this problem is limited to a distribution, so I will be installing gentoo today. I haven't had any response from others with this laptop to know if this is a unique problem or if it is a widespread issue.

cheers,

DH
