Need to install PCMCIA card in old notebook

Hello, Iīm trying to install a PCMCIA network card in a Gateway2000 Colorbook (old laptop). I intsalled a BasicLinux distribution in the HD of the PC. I only have a floppy drive to transfer files to the machine, or via serial port (ttys0), please tell me where can I get a tutorial on how to install such devices, when I run cerdmgr I get no drivers in /dev/proc ... I donīt know, please HELP. kernel is 2.2.26, I use slackware 7.1 packages on the distro like they said in the web they would work

Thank you!

Hi,
first thing I would do: download install of some distro like ubuntu, debian or arch (i know that ArchLinux provide installation from floppy) and check if all hardware work under linux. You don't have to install it, just check if instalation script could find hardware and which modules are necessary. But this is just my personal opinion...
