need some help configuring sound on compaq presario 1681
 

hi all,

i've got a comapq presario 1681 laptop. i used windows all these days, and now i've installed redhat 9 on the laptop. everything works fine...but my sound card (the one that is shipped with the laptop) doesn't work. i think it's the problem in finding the suitable driver for the sound card. when i use the sound card configuration program, i get the reply no sound card found. where can i get a suitable driver for my sound card? any idea?

A suiteble driver would be the best option. Does RH9 give the option for manual configuration. You may try finding out the IRQ and DMA settings on your card and try that.

Do a search to for similar installs with RH on your model laptop. I'm sure someone has tried to install and had similar problems with a good solution.
