Need help syncing Zaurus with Linux..

Can someone who has accoplished getting Qtopia Desktop running in Linux please point me to a good set of instructions? I keep running into dependency problems..

grym 07-18-2003 03:38 PM

what dependency problem what's it say it's missing which kernel version what distro?

Pcghost 07-18-2003 04:32 PM

I went compile the qtopia_free tar files and I get "error 2: failed to locate" and a string of files... Am I installing the wrong packages, because this seems more complicated than it was described to me?

grym 07-18-2003 05:30 PM

the file is qtopiafree is the developer kit not the desktop

their site can be hard to navigate.
You use redhat so try this file:

ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qtopia/sourc...6.2-1.i386.rpm

Good luck to you

Thanks alot. I will give that a shot. Woohoo. Windows free in 2003!...

Pcghost 07-21-2003 06:02 PM

I get this message when I rpm the file

error: Failed Dependencies:
libstdc++-libc6.1-2.so.3 is needed by qtopia-desktop-1.6.2-1

And apt says that libstdc++ is the latest version.

I am confused...

grym 07-21-2003 06:05 PM

what version do you have?

Pcghost 07-21-2003 06:07 PM

I have libstdc++-3.2.2-5

grym 07-21-2003 06:12 PM

ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qtopia/sourc...6.2-1.i386.rpm

you could also get this if you want

ftp://ftp.trolltech.com/qtopia/sourc...6.2-1.i386.rpm

Pcghost 07-21-2003 06:16 PM

Thanks. I'll try those and see if that does the trick..

Pcghost 07-21-2003 06:20 PM

That worked!. Thanks. Now what command is used to start the program. I can't find it on the K menu so I assume it is started from the command line?

grym 07-21-2003 06:27 PM

it is started from the command line untill you add a menu entry for it atleast. heh

try looking in /opt/Qtopia/bin/
the executable you are looking for is qtopiadesktop
