Need help....stuck

I have an AcerNote Light 350pcx laptop that i wiped out Win95 to install Debian 3.0. I use rescue.bin on a floppy to boot the system and install all the way up until "Install base program" where i realize that the CD-rom is not recognized. It's a Panasonic KXL-d740 connected via PCMCIA. I know i can download all 20 floppies with the base program but i would like to install the rest with a CD (which was claimed possible at most distributor sites).

I even tried that Smart Boot Manager and it DIDN'T pick up the CD-rom either. I know CD-rom works because it can still play audio CD fine.

When I tried to install the CD-rom, I have no idea what the I/O is and what IRQ it's using. I tried using whatever settings the Acer manual listed but installation still fails.

I don't have a Ethernet card so I can't do network install.

I have come across websites where people have successfully done this before but the pages are no longer active and/or don't have info i am looking for.

I am stuck...please help!!

Specs are as follow:

P100
24MB RAM
540MB HD
4X Panasonic KXL-D740 CD-rom

From the title of your post, I would assume you've fallin into a hole and can't get out. If you understand what I mean, you can stop reading.
