ok
now
are you trying to install from a cd
a usb
or a net install?

I assume the acer has a cd drive?

It's resally easy
but is there a operating system already on the lappy or no?

linus72 07-25-2009 06:21 PM

you gotta install syslinux to the usb
and set the usb boot flag active

I have no idea how to do this on a mac

if you have access to a pc
download Unetbootin for windows and install netbootcd
to usb using unetbootin
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

If you have an external cd/dvd drive. You should be able to go into the BIOS setup (I think you press the F2 during bootup) and tell it to boot from external device. Download and burn ubuntu or whatever ISO file you want to cd/dvd disc using your Mac. Do not copy the ISO file to cd/dvd disc but create Image.

Boot the newly burned cd/dvd disc and it should start the installation process.
