My laptop can't hibernate/suspend to ram and turns on just by itself

When I try to hibernate my laptop (or suspend to ram), the laptop shuts down suddenly during the process. The laptop is completely dead, I can't hear any sounds of ventilators and all lights are off. But after 2 or 3 seconds the laptop turns on just by itself and starts to boot normally (grub, kernel, init...), not recover from hibernation.

It's quite strange for me

My laptop is MSI GX620 and distro Gentoo. Kernel 2.6.29. The hibernation/suspend works great in Windows Vista so it's not hardware problem. And I have found some Ubuntu users with this laptop and hibernation/suspend worked also out-of-box for them. So it should be possible to make it working in Gentoo.

I had hibernation working on my old laptop (some Asus), so I just followed the same howtos with this new one, but unsuccessfully.

"cat (or less) /var/log/pm-suspend.log" (or pm-hibernate.log) should give you more information regarding your error. What does it say?

Problem solved

I've already solved this problem. There hasn't been any responses at all so I've forgotten about this thread. All I had to do, was to compile network drivers (lan, wlan) as modules and unload them every time I tried to hibernate/suspend. It took some time to figure it out because nobody seems to have the same problem as I had.

But thanks anyway :-)
