my dvd player can't read DVD data discs

I just started using Mandrake on my acer travelmate 661LCi laptop.
But when I put in a DVD data disc it won't read the disc, well rather said in
my mnt map there are only a cdrom disc option. I know that the OS has detected
my cd-driver, so please can someone help me out, I'm a total newbie.

Hi,

Okay, this is what you have to do :

First : go to this site :

http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

Okay, choose contrib, main, updates,
plf-free, plf-nonfree), choose a mirror next to where you live.

Follow the steps so that you can add the lines at the bottom of the page in a
terminal console, logged as root. (To change normal user, symbolized by a $ sign
type 'su', then your root password you have set at install). Cut and paste them, it's easier.

Now, go to MCC ===> RPMDrake (or whatever the name is now), it will ask if you want to
update your sources, say yes and then choose those in your packages list :

w32codecs (to read win videos)
libdvdcss2
libdvdnav
libdvdplay

Kaffeine or Mplayer (if you have it), or Totem should play your DVDs now

cheers
