It seems the wireless chip in this machine is a RTL8188CE.

If that is the case, the driver is not yet included in Ubuntu, but there is one available. I found a PPA that packages it.

Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lexical/hwe-wireless
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rtl8192ce-dkms
To double check the chipset of your card, please post the output of
Code:
lspci -vnn | grep -a4 -i net

@everget That repo doesn't have Oneiric (Ubuntu 11.10) packages, just for 10.04, 10.10 and 11.04

I've had the same issue, having upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04. Is there a way of sourcing a driver from an older version and using that?
