Mulinux on Compaq Presario

I have mulinux on floppy and want to try to install it on a laptop... Authentic AMD, AMD-K6, 3D processor, 188 mg ram, with CD-ROM, floppy, Campaq Presario 1200.

A friend told me it might "mess the laptop up" if I try to install mulinux. Any experience with mulinux here? Do the above specs give anyone ideas as to why mulinux would not work or "mess the laptup up"? I have never run Linux on any laptop. Currently the laptop runs Wn98 which will be destroyed hopefully in the install.

Thanks,
Jacob
