MS Optical mouse not working after kernel upgrade

I'm running fedora core 2. I upgaded from the default 2.6.5 to the 2.6.6 kernel, and now my MS optical notebook mouse is not automatically detected. I mean, I probably need to do something after upgrading the kernel, but I dont know what. Maybe there is something that I need in the kernel, even though as far as I could see I included whatetever may have been required, usb etc.? Can someone please help.

Thanks.

So you compiled your own kernel, I understand? Could you show me the output of lsmod?

Yes, I compiled it.

lsmod:

[root@localhost root]# lsmod
Module Size Used by
pcmcia_core 48580 -
ohci1394 29764 -
ieee1394 89204 -
microcode 4960 -

Now that's weird it seems, not being used by anything right? Anyway, do you have any ideas about the mouse issue?

Also, I've been having trouble with my sound, have a look here and see if you can help:

thanks!

You're missing some modules. Maye you compiled them but haven't loaded them... Though that seems unlikely. The missing ones are: "usbcore" and "hid". I don't use ohci, I use uhci_hcd but since you're probably going to have to recompile anyway I'd recommend building them both (and ehci, too) and trying them to see if one works (best).
