Modem within Asus A6000-series - kernel too old?

Hi all!

I have installed SuSE 10.1 on my Asus A6VA laptop (A6000-series).

No huge problems, only... the infamous internal winmodem!!!
It is an integrated HDAudio 56K modem.

I downloaded the Linuxant drivers, and then installed the .rpm package. No problem after that, I have been able to even run the "hsfconfig" setup.

But whatever has been mounted as /ttySHSF0 (and linked as /modem0) ... it is not recognized! KPPP is not able to interrogate it (it just doesn't find it!).

I read somewhere that those drivers only work with kernel 2.6.16 or higher... is that true? I use 2.6.13-15.

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, I am a poor, hopeless dumb...

My kernel is not 2.6.13-15, but the supposed proper 2.6.16.13-4 (geez...)
So, at the moment I really don't know why the appropriate Linuxant HSF... driver, when rpm-ed, returns "no device detected"...

Any idea, please?
