modem trouble

I have a dell inspiron 8500 with the next modem:PCTEL 2304WT V.92 MDC Modem

but I can't get it to work, i have red hat linux 9 on my laptop.
the comp says that the modem is active but when I want to go on the web it can't find anything. when I installed linux it said that the modem was not compatible or something like that.

Can you help me connectinng to the internet and please be precise in your explanation because I dont have much experience with linux.

Thanx in advance

Go to www.google.com And type "PCTEL Modem Linux". You should be capable of reading the howto's on your own.
