Mint lxde freezes for a second

Hi,

I decided to install a Linux Mint LXDE on my laptop Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L1300. It all worked well but i noticed that the processor jumps to 40% for no reason and it freezes for a second literaly 1 sec. and this is happening in iterations like every 20 sec. I had Ubuntu 9.04 GNOME on it and I did not experience this problem. Then I installed Lubuntu (LXDE) and it behaves like Mint LXDE.

What can be the problem?

I kinda like Mint, and id rather go back to Win XP than have GNOME.

All the drivers for this Laptop are for Win XP

- Celeron M 340 / 1.5 GHz
- RAM 768 MB
- HDD 40 GB
- DVD±RW (+R double layer)
- Intel 852GM Graphic card
- WLAN : 802.11b/g
- Win XP Home
- 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA )

You do realize that Mint's version of GNOME is more Windows-like than Ubuntu's version, right? Just the bottom panel and Mint Menu makes Mint look more like LXDE than GNOME, and if you try the KDE spin maybe you can have a desktop that's even more Windows-like. Xfce may also work, and Mint Xfce may also be easy for Windows users to use. Generally, Mint looks more like Windows than Ubuntu, and so using Mint is a good idea, period.

Hey mate,

I dont really care about Win look, i just need the OS to be light on resources as you can see not much there. So i decided to go with LXDE cause it takes less then 200MB of ram when loaded.

The problem is that i dont know where to start to solve this problem.
