mini-laptop with linux preinstalled
Hello, I'm using linux for a while now. I deleted windows on 2 laptops and installed linux mint on them. Now I have a mini-laptop from my daughter and it runs an a linux version I don't know. It hasn't got many options and is difficult to install other software, can't get it on my wireless network (the linuxmint laptops working with wifi) and so on...
So I decided to change its OS to linux mint. I need to change the boot order to do this but can't find a terminal to change it and can't enter the laptops system. When I put in my external cd/dvd-player the minilaptop just powers off and goes black. Help me please, I don't know what to do and don't want to trow this mini-laptop away. My daughter bought it just some weeks ago and the store can't help. |
Welcome to LinuxQuestions.
Without knowing the make/model of the laptop it is difficult to provide any help. |
specifications of the 'thing' are;
Q.media Mini notebook 7" Linux storage: 2GB NAND Flash it also says 'wifi', it even connects to my wifi network but in the browser it says there is no connection or 'the homepage is not recognized' When my external cd/dvd is put in, the thing shuts down power booting up by usb (to install mint or even slax is better then what's on it now) I can't because I can't find a way to change bootorder from harddisk (I mean Flash) to usb. |
and can't find any terminal.there is a package manager but there are none.
