Mandriva on Sony Vaio AR31m won't load

hello there.
i love linuz. received a sony vaio AR31m from work.
tried to run Mandriva 2007 live to check any incompatibility. Linux Mandriva 2007 stops at half a way of the live boot, tried several times but it won't load.
i heard it might be the Nvidia Go causing the problem.
Any solution to get that beautiful platform flying freely in my VAIO?
please help
andrew
