Question Lubuntu 14.10 Installed on Acer Aspire 3000 Screen Settings

Every thing I open [files, folders or sites] are overhanging the edges, try as I might the resolution stays at 640x 400 I would like to set up to 1024X768.
I set the setting to automatic but it keeps going back to default 640x400.

Thanks for your help

PS-other than the above problem it seems like a great program

open a terminal and type;
Code:
xrandr
Then post the results here please.
That will show us what the possible resolutions are as detected.

Resolved to a point

Problem with D/L switched to Ubuntu 14.04.1 So far everything is ok with hard wired Lan but not able to go WiFi as front switch not showing on and doesn't function, I think the drivers are not compatible with the Acer Aspire 3000 card. Will keep on trying---Thanks for your advice, more would be appreciated

Have you tried Ubuntu's "Additional Drivers"?

I have to second EDDY1's advice. Do you have the Broadcom driver (and any associated firmware) installed?

I D/L the drivers to the file folder, now all I need to know is how and where to put them on my Acer 3000 Laptop computer. I'm a real noobie could use a step by step for Ubuntu 14.04.1 feel lost as its not Windows 7---Thanks

Loaded Fedora 20

Loaded Fedora 20 over Ubuntu now everything works including the WiFi. Very pleased with the Fedora 20 operating system and highly recommend it. Thanks to all!
