Linuxant modem

I have a compaq nx9010 laptop with an integrated conexant modem. I have UHU-Linux installed, but I can't get the modem working. I downloaded the last free beta driver from linuxant bat the hsfconfig failed with some error. I tried the latest driver, without license file, which should work for 14,4 kbps. The installation completes, but the modem doesn't reply. I'm using kppp in kde3.2 . Does anybody know any solution?

Which kernel? I cant get the linuxant drivers to work with a 2.6.2 kernel.

Whats the error message?

Which distro are you using? When you day you downloaded the latest driver, was that the tarball(source) or a binary package?
Run kppp, configure, "Device" tab. Make sure the device is either "/dev/ttySHCF0"(if it's hcf) or "/dev/ttySHSF0"(if it's an hsf).

Thi distribution is UHU-Linux.
The error message is "the modem doesn't respond" I think. Thats what it is saying when i am testing the modem inside kppp setup and th device is set to /dev/modem or /dev/ttySHSF0. Otherwise I get "modem not found".
It is kernel 2.4.24, i guess. But it is 2.4! That much is sure...

I got some help from a hungarian linux fan, so I installed a beta version. Kppp sees the modem and I can test it in the setup dialog, but when I try to connect, it writes initializing modem and doesn't go further.

Just to let you know I downloaded the latest drivers from linuxant only a few days ago and installed them on a Compaq Pressario 700 series.....the first two times the drivers would not install properly, the next time the drivers installed but the modem would not initialise in kppp....(getting a bit anoyed by this stage..)thought "one more try" and low and behold they worked....so the drivers do work....just need to persevier a bit I guess :)

modem is a hsf model and the licensing worked a treat this morning...I now have 56K with V.92.

Linux Distro is MDK 10 C.E.

I got it now. I didnt put a symlink to /dev/modem after installation. My bad.
