linux on dell latitude d600
installed fedora core red hat 5, from cd in book Linux for Dummies, on dell lattitude d600. would only install when i typed (linux text).
can linux run the graphics on this computer and how. linux in text mode seems to be working. |
Need more hardware info. Do you know what the video card is? If it's an ATI, you could probably get a graphic install going by adding vga=788 to the boot command. Then, you'd need to download and install their driver.

I am running a default install on Kubuntu Edgy on a Latitude D600. The only things that isn't working yet is the Broadcom wifi - I haven't even tried but I know that it will work. Also, I have turned the modem off as I have no need for it, so I have no idea if it is working. Suspend and all of the Fn keys worked out of the box. I a using my new Latitude right now :) This is NOT an advert for Kubuntu : just to say that everything will work using Linux. Good luck!!
