Linux Mandrake 9.2 on an Inspiron 1100

Hey, I'm thinking of installing Mandrake 9.2 on my Dell Inspiron 1100. I have previously tried installing 9.1, and when I did, Linux would not start X and I could not manually start it, and it gave me a message saying that my Intel 845G was not supported or something like that. Has anyone on here had that same problem with 9.2, and how did you work around it? Should I just wait for Mandrake 10?

I just install 9.2 on an IBM 770z. No X first try, so I reinstalled with the upgrade option. Third time was the charm, looks great now. Doesn't take long to do if you are "upgrading" the same distro.

I have an Intel 845G and that was why Mandrake 9.1 didn't work well with my laptop. I heard about a patch that supposedly fixes the "no X" problem. I actually tried putting 9.2 RC2 on it, but that didn't work either and I had tried upgrading and that didn't work. I want to try installing 9.2 again, but I'm afraid to because last time Linux corrupted my hard drive so bad that I couldn't even get into WinXP (I had a dual-boot).
