Recently I bought an HP tx 1000 tablet PC and, honestly, if I don't switch to linux I think I will get mad... Unfortunately I could not find information about if I will be able to use my touch screen in ubuntu (I've heard good things about it and would love to try).
Does anyone have any kind of experience in this matter?
Touch screens are almost always reported to the system as a simple mouse device. So there should be very little, if any, specific configuration required.
you could also think about other distributions, but as far as I know also with ubuntu it should work... quite little configuration. why not googling for "tablet pc linux" to find out which distribution supports your laptop touchpad out of the box and then deciding which distro to use?... only a suggestion....
You just have to add "vga=0x317" in the initial installation options screen. You can remove the word splash and add vga=0x317 and then
It should work. If you need further assistance with installation, please let me know.
I too have an HP tx1000. I think I'll cry... Every distro I tryed freezes at some point. I managed to sucsessfuly install kubuntu (64bits), but when it tries to boot it freezes... It freezes while trying to load hardware drivers... unfortunatly it doesn't say what drivers.
Mandriva One (i586) live booted once, but freezed when I dblclicked the installer... Ever since, it freezes after asking if my clock is set to local time or not. I'm downloading Mandriva Free now... maybe useing generic drivers works.
Please... We really need HELP!!! YOU CAN'T LEAVE US STUCKED WITH WINDOWS VISTA!!!!
