hello frends,
i want drivers for linux 5.0 in my laptop acer 5738g.
i have searched many places for drivers
i have already installed linux 5.0 on acer 5738g
now for that i want drivers for this laptop
Is it this laptop compatible with linux os or not
and if not how i installed linux os on this system
First of all, what distro are you running? Linux 5 is not a distro I have heard of.
Second, what device(s) are not working? We need specific information. Open a console, and run the command '/sbin/lspci' ( without the quotes, and post the information on the device that is not working.
Simply put, most hardware has support today. The model of the machine does help a little. However hardware makers put different devices in machines of the same model. So, run the command , tell us what you have, and we can go from there.
Most distros will have working drivers for most hardware. Unless this is a bleeding edge machine, it should work.
i dont understand what distro means can you pls explain nd i have type this command nd shows all devices
my main purpose is to start internet in linux can you help me with that my network admin says theren needs network driver for linux on acer 5738g laptop
pls help me out
Distro is short for distribution, the particular linux you are running, such as Ubuntu 10.04, Mint 8, etc.
As asked, what is not working and what error messages are shown when you try to get something to work? Otherwise, this laptop seems to work running linux.
How many computers do you have ?
Apparently two : one running Vista and one running XP ?
Where do you come from ?
How did you get that linux-operating-system ?
Actually there are Puppy 5 and Debian 5 for example .
Did you get the linux from one of the many magazines ?
Is it a liveDVD that had an installer ?
It is unbelieveable that it did not install a bootloader like grub legacy , grub 2 , grub4dos or lilo (linux-loader) - but possible due to the speed in development.
The bootloader might be not in the MBR (master boot record) but somewhere else like another partition or at /boot -directory.
Does your acer-laptop still run any operating system (OS) ?
