linux and atheros 5007eg

Just dipping my toes into linux after a while off due to no computer. And my new laptops wireless seems to be causing no end of problems.

Neither Fedora 10 or Mandriva one will get to the desktop. At least i can see Fedora fails after detecting eth0 and wireless.

Kubuntu does load but wireless not recognized.

Suse 11.1 works out the box. Why is that?

That was a problematic chipset for a while, I don't think they really got it under control with the ath5k driver until kernel 2.6.27.

You need the madwifi openhal driver for that chip. (if the ath5k Doesn't work for you)

This driver works great, that chip is in a lot of the Netbooks.
I do not believe network-manager works with this driver though, wicd has been recommended as a replacement, and I actually like it better than network manager, so win-win for me.
