Lenovo Thinkpad T410 and linux [Quadro NVS 3100M] and [Intel 5 INT NVIDIA N10M-NS]

Quote:

Hi, I'm going to buy Thinkpad T410:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T410
and would like to install Linux (debian) on it.
Thus I want to ask you guys about your experience with the graphic cards that are install on it. There are two options - to buy the notebook with Nvidia Quadro NVS 3100M dedicated card and Intel 5 INT NVIDIA N10M-NS which is supplied by iCore chipset or without special Nvidia Card.
I want to take the first option with two graphic cards (btw Lenovo says that it's possible to switch between them - is it possible to do that with linux and binary NVidia drivers?) because I want to have hardware support for my h264 movies.
And what about open source drivers? Have you heard that Nvidia works fine with them?
What about 2D and 3D acceleration? and about the Compiz? Does it work fine?

Another thing I want to ask is the wifi chipset. Does it work fine with the newest kernel? Is it stable enough?

Can anyone add lspci output?

I would be appreciate for your answser.
Update:

1. Is 64 bit NVidia driver works fine with 64bit Linux (for iCore processor)?

2. I suppose I should choose AMD64/EM64T version of such driver?
These drivers are available on NVidia website:
- Linux IA32 - Latest Version: 195.36.31
- Linux IA64 - Latest Version: 1.0-5336
- Linux AMD64/EM64T - Latest Version: 195.36.31

3. I've found here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-d...31-driver.html
that NVidia support the following Quadro NVS series:
NVS 440, NVS 450, NVS 420, NVS 290, NVS 280, NVS 285, NVS 210, NVS 295
I'm not sure if the chipset that is installed in T410 (I suppose it's NVidia Quadro NVS 3100M based on N10-NS chipset).
Are you sure NVidia support my chipset?

4. Do you know if switching video card is supported by Kernel?
I don't know if I need such feature. Perhaps for better battery life.

5. Does open-source driver (nouveau I guess) for NVidia support 2D and 3D acceleration for this chipset? And is it fast enough?

6. Does Compiz works fine with this chipset. I'm asking about that because I remember I had some problem with my T61 intel graphic card. There were some limitation for that.

7. Do you know if multi touch in T410 is supported by the newest kernel/Xorg?

8. Does wifi chipset works fine in T410?

9. To be honest I've never install Debian 64bit. On the debian site I've noticed the following arch ports:
[alpha][amd64][arm][armel][hppa][i386][ia64][mips][mipsel][powerpc][sparc][s390][source][multi-arch]
Should I choose amd64 arch for Inter i5 or i7 processor?

10. Can you please add lspci output?

As long as your VGA system is not ATI, all is OK.

Sorry I repeat myselfe but I need to perform a deep research before I buy this notebook. It costs 3-4x more than other laptops.

Does anyone know the answers?

I do not have the answers to your queries but I do have some suggestions w.r.t placement of your questions (for getting better answers):
