Lenovo laptop sound low volume/Output
Hi.
i have just installed suse 10 SP1 in lenovo 3000 Y500 series 776137Q laptop.
All are well, except sound output is low compared to windows.
intel HD audio controller.
I configered alsa as with snd-hda-intel.
I have one button in laptop called "bass" which amplifies sound/output in windows. How to enable this in Linux. In Linux the sound quality is like playing songs without enabling bass. Please guide:-)

Hi.
Could you post the output of lspci? It often gives useful information when dealing with sound problems.

You should have a couple of mixer software. Use gnome-sound-mixer or alsamixer. For the latter you can open a terminal and type "alsamixer"
Then raise the volume output

I'm sorry but I have no clue. Maybe you should contact alsa staff and post your problem there. Or maybe there is someone around here you can help you more than me.

Sound Problem with Lenovo laptop 3000 N-100
I'm posting in response to Rakris' problem. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution.
I have no sound while running on the latest Knoppix CD.
I have the same audio as Rakris: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
In my case, there is no sound, not just low sound.
I get the following message in the Sound system control center:
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such file or directory)
If someone knows a fix, fine. But I'm mainly posting to let y'all know of a potential incompatibility with this audio device.
I'm just a Tux embryo. But that's my hunch.
