laptop startup problem on Lenovo y560d with Ubuntu 11.04

Ever since I upgraded my distro from ubuntu 10.10 to ubuntu 11.04, I'm not able to start my laptop unless I plugin the power cable. I'm facing this problem more than last 2 months, and now it's becoming unbearable for me use.

I had posted the problem at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1746145 but no responses came up.

Is this problem solvable now or at any near future? If not, then can anyone kindly please suggest me a distro with very good laptop drivers support. I would prefer a debian based one, with preferably rolling release support. I don't want something like Arch, which takes too much time just to setup things.

I would say that the battery has gone bad, when plugged in and running does it shutdown after unplugging?
What does battery indicator icon say when you mouse-over?

Nopes. The battery is perfectly okay. It's working fine with other OSes, and other distros including Ubuntu 10.10.
And it doesn't shutdown, if I unplug the charger while using Ubuntu 11.04.

And, I'm not the only one facing this problem. Other users of Lenovo y560 and y460 are facing the same problem with ubuntu 11.04.
