Laptop sound drivers aren't loading!

I have an old IBM Thinkpad 770Z laptop running VectorLinux. In four distributions I have tried, not one has ever successfully loaded my sound modules. I don't seem to know how to fix this problem, but here is the output I get from dmesg | less:

Code:
Crystal 4280/46xx + AC97 Audio, version 1.28.32, 17:27:04 Aug 25 2003
cs46xx: Card found at 0x50100000 and 0x50000000, IRQ 11
cs46xx: Thinkpad 600E (unsupported) (1014:1010) at 0x50100000/0x50000000, IRQ 11
cs46xx: create - never read card ready from AC'97
cs46xx: probably not a bug, try using the CS4232 driver,
cs46xx: or turn off any automatic Power Management support in the BIOS.

All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

PS: If anyone doesn't know, VectorLinux is a very small build based off of slackware

I also run gentoo and as you know you have to know what driver module your looking for emerge it then add it to your load at boot for what ever kernel your running .

from your message it looks like its telling you to trun off power man in the kernel so you probly have to recompile your kernel or if you build it as a module remove it.
