Laptop screen blanks during installation of OpenSuSE 10.3

I'm installing OpenSuSE 10.3 on a Dell Inspiron 1200 laptop. Because my cats tend to tromp on the keyboard I normally keep the lid closed for long processes such as this. The problem is that when I close the lid, even partially, the screen blanks out. That wouldn't be a problem if I could get the screen back again, but I have yet to figure out how to do that. Any suggestions (aside from finding a new home for the cats)?

inside power management(screensaver there) have option to turn off your monitor when the lid is close.

Trouble is that during installation you can't get to the power management since KDE isn't running yet.

I eventually got around the problem by being patient and optimistic. I just let the process run blind and eventually the laptop rebooted and all was well. Not a very satisfying solution, though.

then, this is a special requirement which is developer won't event think/imagine about it before.

I have a dell inspiron 1200. I had the same problem with the monitor not reinitializing on lid-open. All I did was go into the display settings in the control center, then clicked the Power Control tab and enabled power management. I disabled the standby, suspend and power off after options but left power management enabled. Apparently that fixed the monitor problem. :-)
