Laptop Project

Is there an open source project out there dedicated to producing a comprehensive laptop support suite for linux. What I am thinking is there should be an RPM/DEB/ebuild that can be installed that will, with some tweaks for individual laptop configurations, get a linux installation setup to do the following.

Manage power consumption based on power status and battery charge.
Allow the laptop to suspend.
Allow the laptop to hibernate.
Respond to events like lid closures in a configurable way.
Basically behave in almost every way like a Windows or Mac laptop.
If there is such a project, I would really like to get involved.

Thanks,

Dana

Well, while not a project; SuSE's latest releases provide all of what you are asking about. Have fun.

Hi all,

Are those functions available to FC3? if yes, which package on which repo?
