This will be my third version of Linux that I am about to try on my tosiba satellite laptop..a70...
does anyone know if there are difficulties with the "touchpad"?

and is there a way to use my pocket pc sync on here?

and is it userfriendly???

Since you didn't mention which distro you want to try etc it's a little hard to give ideas.

If you check linux-on-laptops.com somebody has posted a guide to installing Gentoo on the A70 model (including the Synaptics settings so I guess the touchpad can be configured)
