laptop linksys wireless problems

I have Suse 10.1 installed on a laptop which has a WPC54G v4 wireless card in it. I can get it installed using ndiswrapper and it even connects through knetwork manager. However I cannot browse the internet or anything even though it says it has connected in the network manager.

The steps I have taken to get this far are;
1. ndiswrapper -i <my wireless driver>
2. ndiswrapper -l output: wlipnds driver installed, hardware present.
3. Open yaste and set up the card. Putting ndiswrapper as the module. I had to give it a static IP address at this point as using dhcp has not been able to connect.
4. Connect using knetwork manager and giving it my wep key.

This all works fine and connects to the network but why can I still not use the internet?

Other outputs;
# iwlist wlan0 scan

Your card is showing that the network key is off. Try
Code:
iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed key <your key>
and then checking the card again.

Thanks for the reply. I have ran the command but it has not changed the config and didn't bring up any error either.

I tried iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed key s:<myKey>
and also tried it in two parts iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed and then iwconfig key s:<myKey>

All commands ran without error but did not change any settings?

I have since figured out that this problem is nothing to do with linux. This problem seems to happen with this wireless card in windows as well as linux and so appears to be an incompatibility with hardware somewhere along the line. I will probably buy a different wireless adaptor!
