Laptop Hangs after reboot ? (Toshiba satellite)

Hello everybody,
I am having a problem with rebooting my laptop in linux.

I am running Debian (sarge) with kernel 2.6 and KDE 3.2.
My laptop model is Toshiba satellite 1800-700.

Upon rebooting ,it just hangs displaying Toshiba in touch with tomm
and thats all. I have to turn it off and then on once again.
I rarely need to reboot my linux box (No more M$ windows) but
its just irritating.

Any help would be really appreciated.
thanx in advance

when it hangs does it hang when you are booting windoze? if so then what is happening is the laptop's ram is not cleared out and linux is still in the area of ram that windoze wants for protected os use. This means that in order to boot winsh!t you need to clear the ram by losing all power to it. Second did you compile toshiba laptop support and processor features into the kernel? toshiba actually has special functions that linux needs in its kernel to make it work. in linux cd to /proc and do a cat cpuinfo. this should tell you what your processor is doing.

I see it's a very old thread.. but i'm having the same issue on my Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 laptop. Shutting down or suspending works flawlessly. If I choose to reboot it hangs after reboot.

What's the status on this issue?

Thanks
