Re-installed Mandrake 9.9 (2.4) and having a problem with the unit freezing up after about 15-20 minutes. Must do a hard boot to recover.
Looked in dmesg and syslog for any signs of a problem and the only thing/s there are;
1) - APCI is broken in the BIOS (I don't believe is the issue - but - what do I know)
2) - usbdevfs: remount parameter error
Should I be looking for something more or somewhere else for additional system information??
I'm getting ready to upgrade the kernel (to 2.6.6) and wonder if I should just upgrade and hope for the best or resolve the issues first ??
All assistance is greatly appreciated.

You should remove acpi from the kernel if it is broken. Acpi can throw all kinds of errors and lock your machine up if it is not running right.
ya try the new kernel keeping your old....
