laptop battery support

Hey guys whats up?

I finally fine tuned my notebook with ubuntu.. i just got my wireless going with ndiswrapper.. surprisingly it wasn't as bad as i thought..

my final step now is getting the battery support going and from what i have been hearing its a pain lol

i did some reading on my distro (Ubuntu) and support for batteries.. and apparently i need some Smart Battery System Driver.. i have no clue? did some google searches.. got about a million sites on it lol

so i thought just to try to recompile my kernel with the battery support built in and everything.. nothing.. the battery monitor stays at N/A...

to be honest.. i don't know which path to take? because the kernel didn't seem to help? and i have no clue about this Smart Battery System Driver..

if anyone can help me at least get long the correct path that would be great

thanks

p.s. i have an Acer TravelMate 2300 if this is any help
