knoppix doesnt boot on Acer Laptop 242Lc

Hi everybody!

Some days ago I`ve tried to boot Knopix Version 3.2 from the CD op my Laptop ACer Travelmate 242 LC.
After the boot-prompt boot: and <return> was only the message: loading vmlinuz
and then a dark screen.
Nothing else, no key worked (including <alt><F1> etc. the only thing you can do is to turn the laptop off..

Has someone any ideas what is wrong there ...

(Yes, real soon now I should install a real woody system...)

Try pressing F2 before the CD starts booting and use the text only option. Knoppix might not be detecting your screen or video adapter.

Hello!

Booting in text-mode I also tried before. The screen locks up and nothing else, as in graphics mode.
The <F2>Key is no solution. Booting with the Kernel "failsafe" doesn't work either.

Any suggestions?

Are you using an ISO that you burned yourself???
I've had trouble in the past (don't know why) with Linux ISOS burned in Windows.
Try the disk on another machine to see if it works.
