kernel panic


hi everyone
im new to linux,and would like to try. so i have a cd of knoppix live.evertime i try to run it,i get a messege that says: kernel panic not syncing attempt to kill int!. ive looked around but havent found any ifo. thats helping.. hopefully someone has some ideas whats wrong.
i have also tried linspire 5.0 live..
my laptop is 333mhz,128ram,30gb hd..
thanks for any help
also both cd' s are new and work in my other comp.

Have you checked to see if the machine is listed at http://www.tuxmobil.com? Or maybe at http://www.linux-laptop.net/. There is also the HCL here at LQ. It may be a troublesome machine for Linux purposes. It seems pretty old, and laptops are touchy.

thanks for the reply,my laptop was listed with a few versions of linux..
