Kernel Developers/Patches Optimized for Laptops

I recently had to compile my first kernel because some of the hardware on my new laptop was unsupported in any stable distro. Now that I have caught the kernel bug, I was wondering if there are any specific kernels that are optimized for laptop use. Mostly I would be interested in power saving features. Thanks.

In my experience, this is normally at the discretion of the distro.

Some distros provide a kernel that's optimized for a laptop, some don't. There isn't anything available from kernel.org specifically for a laptop (to the best of my knowledge) but there are probably some mailing lists dealing with laptop specific things if you need more info or even just the ACPI patch list.

Cheers,
Steve
