Silence!
Hello all of you. I just recently discovered laptop-mode and its uses (getting my laptop 100% quiet). I am running Gentoo btw, that might come in handy.
I am not enterly sure what laptop-mode does but sure enough my harddrive gets nicely suht down. What i want to know is howto prevent the harddrive from spinning up again when using mozilla (probably it is accessing some buffers .. ). I was not sure if to put this in the Software forum or here. Sorry for any inconvinience regarding the placement of this post. Ceers! Benne. |
Mozilla probably reads/writes the cache and therefore accesses the HD. Unavoidable. Perhaps you could define a RAM-drive or an external USB-mem as the cache memory location.

Where is the mozilla buffert/chache located? /tmp ?
The isb key idea was not a bad idea. |
No idea, check the configuration for Mozilla.

the mozilla cache is located in ~/.mozilla/default/********.***/Cache/
(******* is randomly-generated letters) the solution would be to symlink that cache folder inside /tmp/ in a ramdisk. |
