i would guess that it was an error on the OP's part ( or a oversight) during install .
Arch is manual EVERYTHING .
there is basically NO automation in install .
so i would
1) READ the install instructions a few times
2) write ( yes on paper ) the outline for arch + X11 + kde + setting up the boot type + ... and so on .
3) reread the wiki a few more times to check if something was missed

4) install
