jockey-backend to exit


hi i just installed ubuntu 11.4 on my hcl leaptop and when i try to update any software it says waiting for "jockey-backend to exit"

Ok..how long did you wait? That's part of the update manager, if I remember correctly. It should finish what it's doing and let you go on after a bit. You could also type in at a terminal "ps -ef | grep jockey", to get the process ID, then issue a "kill -9 <PID number>" to stop it manually.

Personally, I'd just let it finish what it's doing by itself.

Uninstall Additional Drivers ( Jockey-gtk)
then you would be able to update ubuntu.
You can reinstall it later if you wish.
