Issues with Dell Inspiron 700m
 

Hi,

I have installed Debian Sarge on a Dell INSPIRON 700m and have ran into the following unresolved issues:

1. I am running Kernel 2.6.8-2. The boot process ("Loading 2.6.8-2....") begins with a BIOS check which takes on my machine at least a minute or even more. This is usually a process that is barely visible because so fast. I did not have anything like this running GRUB. But then there a 2.4 kernel was used. The

2. The internal modem is an:
Intel 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Modem Controller (rev03)
Subsystem: Conexant: Unknown device 5422

I wonder if anybody has encountered related problems and has been able to find a working solution. The device 5422 is not supported by the Conexant drivers.
