issue with suspending to disk/ram
Hi,
I just bought by self an dell inspiron 1505. I runs great with linux. I installed fedora core 6 on this. The only issue is the following. Under gnome I can click on "system"->"suspend" and everything will work beautifully. It suspends and when I press the power back on, there is my system again just as I left it. But the issue is, I can't get it to do the same from the command line. If I do Code:
echo mem > /sys/power/state When I suspend to disk, I can bring it back up, but the display resolution will be all wrong. So I should be able to suspend, because gnome can do it! But under KDE (my favorite desktop environment), I don't see an "suspend" option in the menu. I could make one if I knew what command to issue. If anyone has a clue..... |
maybe gnome uses suspend2? try to find that out, you may have to use the command hibernate to get into suspend/hibernate mode, not directly the sys/power interface...
(watch for /etc/hibernate/* and try hibernate --help) Sorry, i do not use FC6, so can't help you any more with that... HTH, Flo |
