Is there a linux driver for Intel HM77 Chipset?

Hello all,

Recently I got a new Dell Inspiron 15R SE notebook. I first ran Ubuntu 12.04 live CD and when trying to install, it didn't recognized any devices (/dev/sda is the hard drive disk and /dev/sdb is the mSata card), which have been properly recognized by fdisk or cfdisk when I booted up from a Slackware (Hooray!!) image on a thumb drive. I intended to partition the hard disk to create a multiboot system, which has been halted mostly due to laziness on my part.

Eventually I'll get it going, but I'd sooner clarify the chipset driver issue prior to doing that, which I couldn't find a download link in Intel's Mobile Intel® HM77 Express Chipset website.

I'm pretty sure I'm not googling it right, but if some one can throw me some pointers on this, it would be grand!

Thanks in advance!

You certainly need *several* drivers to manage all functions of this chipset.

If you can boot from a Slackware installer on a thumb drive, then there shouldn't be any problem.

Just wait a few days and install Slackware 14 on it

If you want to check hardware support, boot your Slackware installer and type "lspci -k" at the prompt.
