Is there a better way to configure Sprint PX-500

Ok, is there a better way to configure my Sprint PX-500 to be able to see what the signal strength and download/upload speeds are? currently I just have it configured in Kppp which is allowing me to access the net with it but I keep getting dropped every now an then and was just wondering if there is a better way to do it?

Thanks for your support,
David
