2G of RAM should be enough (i know, i had it). IMO it's better to pick 32bit version instead of 64bit if you're low on RAM -- it uses about 30 percent less RAM with the same performance (unless you encode/decode stuff for a living).

The only Mint that gave me good performance with less than 2GB RAM was the LXDE spin some time back. But there is always peppermint, I suppose (haven't tried that distro for longer than the last Mint I ran).

Just installed MX-15-b2_x64 on the old Lenovo G-560 with 8GB RAM and it's even better than antiX 8.5 was, IMHO. After installing a few dependencies and Google Chrome Beta, Netfilx is up and running better than ever!

Think I'll kick lubuntu to the curb, now.
