Hey sshiv,
I used the rpm packages, you can find the relevant links at this location: http://mandrivausers.org/index.php?s...400&hl=ipw2200 You should be advised that I'm still not online, I'm using Mdk 10.1 Community and I seem to be having a problem addressing the hardware. At first the Broadcom NIC was eth0 and the Firewire was eth1, I tried to make the 2200 eth2 but that didn't work. So I stuck with default 'alias eth1 ipw2200', when I tried to scan it said 'Interface doesn't support scanning'. I figure it was trying to access the Firewire. In the process of reconfiguring, the scripts made the Firewire eth0, now I don't seem to have an eth1. I think if I can work out the hardware address issue, I'll be there. When you are new, it's best to stick with the rpm's whenever possible. Best of luck and I'll check back if I learn anything. BTW, thanks for the 'modprobe -r' suggestion, maybe that will help me. |
IPW2200 Problem with Dell Inspiron
Just to update,
At the time I wrote the last post in this thread, I was using Mdk 10.1. While I did get the wireless working, I found out that Firefox in Mdk 10.1 was the culprit. When I tried Mozilla, everything worked fine. I've since upgraded to Mdv 2006 and it's even easier to set up. Firefox works, as does almost everything else. The most critical issue that I ran into was choosing the right firmware for my drivers, this is crucial. Best of luck to one and all!! :Pengy:  ;) |
Maybe my article would help you a bit: http://www.informatix.or.id/willy/ac...o-on-linux.php
